Peterhead tourist information
Pointing out into the North Sea Peterhead is Scotland's most easterly town, a thriving fishing port with a large marina.
The town offers visitors a taste of the sea's bounty in its daily fish market, shops and restaurants-including Zanres, winner of UK 'best fish and chip shop' awards. The Arbuthnot Museum celebrates Peterhead's fishing, shipping and whaling past.
The local coastline is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, such as the two-mile stretch at Cruden Bay, and a fantastic 10-mile stetch of beach and rolling dunes just north of Peterhead.
The ruined Slains Castle in nearby Cruden Bay, said to be the inspiration for Dracula, is well worth a visit.
