Dunoon tourist information

Dunoon is a pretty seaside town on the attractive Cowal Peninsula. It grew in the 19th century into a major coastal resort popular with tourists from nearby Glasgow, who travelled down the Firth of Clyde by steamer.

The Castle House Museum is set in one of the fine Victorian buildings that date from this time, and tells the story of the early tourists and the history of the area.

A highlight of the area is the stunning Benmore Botanic Gardens, in a steep woodland setting with a wealth of beautiful plants giving it a very exotic feel.

Very accessible yet only a short trip away from remote and wild coastal areas, mountains and lakes, Dunoon is close to Loch Eck, Loch Long and to the West lies the lovely Isle of Bute.

There is a tourist information centre in the town to help you during your visit.
