A lovely medieval abbey with gardens.
The monks have been at the Abbey here for many years since it was founded in 1018. It is unusual as the monks left after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, but came back and rebult their community in the 1900's. Today the monks are largely self-sufficient with a 300 acre farm that produces what they need. Outside are some delightful gardens, with a sensory garde, water features, and even one with poisonous plants.
The Abbey produces honey and the famous Buckfast tonic wine, which you can buy at the shop here. Other facilities include a popular restaurant and a book shop.
