Chester Zoo,located at Upton-by-Chester, 2 miles north of the centre of the city, is the largest garden zoo in the UK. Set in 110 acres of landscaped grounds, the zoo boasts lots of rare and exotic animals. Many of the 6,000 animals live in large outdoor 'near natural' enclosures. Highlights include the Monkey Islands, Tropical Realm, Penguin Pool, and Children's Farm.
