Magnificent ruined palace in a lakeside setting.
Linlithgow Palace was built in the 15th century on the site on an earlier castle, and was the seat of the Royal Stewarts until fire destroyed it in the 18th century. The sumptuous nature of the palace can be imagined however, as much remains to be admired in the architecture and beautiful stonework. The palace is set in picturesque parkland beside Linlithgow Loch.
