Beautiful castle once owned by the Queen Mother.
An attractive and historic house dating from the 16th century, this is the most Northerly inhabited castle in Britain. Acquired by Her Majesty Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1952, she oversaw its restoration and on her death it passed to a charitable trust. The interior can be viewed as she left it, and there are also lovely grounds, a gift shop, cafe and a farm animal centre for children to meet friendly domestic breeds.
