Historic fishing booth hosting textile heritage exhibitions.
A fishing bod, or booth, is typical of its type and was both living quarters and warehouse for the fishing families of Shetland. The Bod at Gremista on the outskirts of Lerwick, was the birthplace of Arthur Anderson, co-founder of Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (now P&O). It houses an exhibition on his life and the local fishing communities - as well as the Shetland Textile Working Museum. Its collection of heritage woollens and textiles are on display, and there are regular demonstrations of traditional crafts.
