History of all things Newport, Roman remains and the famous transporter bridge.
This local museum tells the story of the city, from prehistoric times, through Roman occupation to the industrial era. There is special focus on the Roman fort at Caerwent, and the wonderful Newport transporter bridge, including the original designs and photographs taken during its construction. There are also exhibitions on natural history, and a fascinating Social History collection which gives an insight into the lives of ordinary people over the last 200 years through everyday the domestic objects they used.
