Admission ChargeThere was a Welsh stronghold here well before Edward I built this castle. It was captured during a Welsh rebellion before it was completed, but it was soon back in Edward's hands as he took control over the area. Although destroyed by fire in the Wars of the Roses, it was used in the English Civil War before being left to decay. It was repaired in the 19th century so you can still see the original walls and the ruined buildings.
