The Cardiff Bay area in particular has undergone a renaissance thanks to the arrival of the Welsh Assembly and stylish waterside developments.
The region has good transport links, with Cardiff airport in nearby Rhoose, and rail and bus connections to the city. Waterbuses serve the Cardiff Bay area.
