The pretty and characterful market town of Newcastle Emlyn is in the very north of Carmarthenshire, set right at the border of Ceredigion on the River Teifi.
With a picturesque ruined 13th century Welsh castle, interesting old buildings and some good cafes, restaurants and pubs, Newcastle Emlyn is a nice place to wander, eat and explore. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside and near to the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline, it is also a great base for exploring West Wales.
Travelling down the Teifi valley takes you to the National Coracle Centre, where you can see how these traditional willow boats were made, and visit the 17th century flour mill.
