St Clears tourist information
St Clears is a historic and traditional small town on the River Taf.
A Castle was built here in the 12th century, but now only the distinctive grassy mound remains. The town was also the scene of one of 19th century 'Rebecca Riots', when poor working class farmers attacked road toll gates in women's clothing as a protest against the establishment.
A main attraction in St Clears is the Carmarthenshire Centre for Crafts, a gallery set in a restored mill building. Food and Craft markets take place outside the centre fortnightly.
