Old Wardour Castle15 miles west of Salisbury, off A30 Built in 1393 by John, 5th Lord Lovel, it passed through a succession of owners to 1570, it was bought by Sir Matthew Arudell who began a reconstruction. After the Civil War damage to the castle was never repaired and in 1756 Lord Arundell built a new house known as Wardour Castle. Old Wardour is a relic in the grounds of the new house. more information
