miles East of Fareham, off A27 A Roman fort, 3rd century AD. the walls
still exist. The Normans built a great tower within these walls. After 50 years a
further two storeys were added and 200 years after, Richard II added battlements.
Over the years the castle was left to decay and only parts survive to this day.
