Rockingham CastleNorth of Corby on A6003 This fortress, built by William the Conqueror, the site of one the first assemblies of State. A royal hunting lodge, King John frequently visited. In the 13th century Edward I was the last monarch to carry out alterations. In 1530 Edward Watson leased the castle and in 1646 it was destroyed by parliamentarians, the family repaired the damage. In the 1840's renovations gave the castle its Plantagent appearance. more information
