 | At Warwick, 3 miles from Leamington Spa, off M40 Overlooking the River Avon, little remains of the Norman keep. Passed to the Beauchamp family in the 14th century and on to Richard Neville, James I passed it in 1604 to Sir Fulke Greville. In the Civil War the castle was besieged, and in the 17th and 18th centuries the Greville family transformed it into a country house, it still houses a collection of paintings and artifacts. In 1978 the castle was bought by the owners of Madame Tussaud's. more information |
