 | At Arundel on the A27 Earl Roger de Montgomery built a stone castle on the site of a Saxon fortification. It passed to the Howards.1780's restoration was in Gothic style but 19th century reconstruction was more straightforward .Today remains of the original castle are hidden by Victorian masonry. more information |
