Historic Aberystwyth is an attractive seaside town on the west coast of Wales.
Its lovely beach made it popular with early tourists as a holiday resort and the seafront promenade and pier retain a traditional Victorian character. Overlooking the beach is the scenic rocky headland of Constitution Hill. The electric cliff railway has been transporting people to the summit since 1896 to enjoy the wonderful panoramic views, camera obscura and refreshments overlooking Cardigan Bay.
A bustling University town, the town also has plenty of history and culture to explore, from the ruined 13th century castle perched high over the sea, to its leading Arts Centre, the National Library of Wales and the excellent Ceredigion Museum.
Inland towards the Cambrian Mountains, don't miss Devil's Bridge, a spectacular scenic gorge crossed by three bridges one on top of the other. You can travel there on the wonderful steam trains of the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway. Other attractions inland are the LLywernog Silver-Lead Mine and Forestry Commission Bwlch Nant yr Arian activity centre.
