Borth is a small village north of Aberystwyth with a spectacular sandy beach which has long been popular as a family seaside holiday destination.
This wide stretch of beach runs for around 4km and its shallow gradient makes it ideal for swimming and surfing. During very low tides ancient petrified tree stumps can be seen at the waters edge. Borth also has its own zoo, the Animalarium, and many of its exotic residents were rescued as abandoned pets.
Just a short distance north along this wonderful coastline are the extensive sand dunes of Ynyslas, part of the larger Dyfi National Nature Reserve. It is a great place for walking and enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife, including the important wild orchid populations.
