The stone-built village of Menstrie is the smallest of the 'Hillfoots' which hug the Ochil range in the north of Clackmannanshire. It is surrounded by beautiful rugged hills and woodland scenery ideal for walking.
Menstrie Castle is an attractive fortified house that was built for Sir William Alexander in the 16th century on an earlier tower. He later went on to become the 1st Earl of Stirling and to play an important role in founding of Nova Scotia in Canada.
