Llandudno is one of the top seaside holiday destinations in Wales, known as Queen of the Welsh Resorts since the mid-19th century when the arrival of the railway brought the first tourists to its sandy beaches.
With elegant grand hotels built along the sweeping North Shore beach, donkey rides, promenade and fantastic elaborate pier, Llandudno is as traditional a seaside town as you can get. The town delights in its Victorian heritage, hosting an annual Extravaganza with parades, fairground and other events taking it back to its 19th century heyday.
A large town packed with great places to shop and eat, there is a great deal to see and do in Llandudno and the surrounding area. As well as enjoying the beach, inland attractions include the Oriel Mostyn contemporary art centre, The Old Bank Gallery, Llandudno Museum, The Home Front Experience, Bodafon Farm Park and more.
The town is set between two high rocky headlands known as the Great Orme (or just Orme) and Little Orme. The Great Orme Tramway and modern cable cars bring visitors up from the scenic Happy Valley Park to the summit complex with its cafe and fantastic views. The Orme is a great place for walking and enjoying the sea air, and there are also many historic sites including the Bronze Age mine workings.
