Llanfairfechan is set on a beautiful stretch of North Wales coastline, with the mountains appearing to tumble down to the sea in its rocky headland.
The town has an old fashioned seaside character, with a great beach, wide open promenade, play areas for children, a great excuse to sit and have an ice cream and take in the coastal views.
The area is also important for wildlife, with an extensive area of salt marsh and mudflats stretching between Bangor and Llanfairfechan. These habitats, known as Traeth Lafan, Glan y Mor Elias and Morfa Madryn, are excellent for birdwatching, particularly wildfowl and wading species.
Inland is a stunning landscape of wooded hills and steep gorges cut by rushing streams, popular for walking and outdoor activities. Near the quaint village of Aber just to the south is a particularly lovely waterfall where the river cascades around 37m (120ft) down sheer rock.
