Padstow
|
|
| Padstow,
on the Camel estuary, which is wide here.
The old Padstow harbour is a working port, and the town
has small steep streets. The harbour is still used, although
once silted up because a local man shot a mermaid with
an arrow. Quite a nice town, with good restaurants, but gets
very busy in the summer. Car parks along by the harbour.
16th Century
Raleigh Court on the quay is where St Walter Raleigh held
court.
THE May Day event, the Hobby-Horse dance, is held yearly
on 1st May, lots of music and colour in the streets.
Tropical bird gardens to visit, and Rick Stein's fish restaurant
is in the town, please book, TourUK staff accept any invitations
to this restaurant, having been once and more than happy to
go again!. Rick Stein also has a guest house and fish shop
and recently opened a fish and chip shop..
