St
Ives
|
|
|
 St
Ives is busy in the summer holiday season, as it is very
pretty with cobbled streets and old cottages leading to the
harbour.
A popular place to
visit, like a larger Padstow.
Made famous for attracting artists such as Barbara Hepworth
and Whistler, it now has the Tate Gallery
offshoot in a modern purpose built building.
Perkin Warbeck landed here and was proclaimed Richard IV
in 1497, he tried to get to London with his followers but
only got as far as Taunton, Somerset.
St
Ives is on a headland so there are two main beaches, and some
smaller ones. Even the harbour is used as beach at low tide,
and you can get boat trips and fishing trips here as well.
Take a look around the lifeboat on the quayside when the lifeboat
station's main doors are open and browse in the RNIL shop
next door.
