The attractive market town of Corwen is set in Denbighshire's rural heartland in the stunning countryside of the Dee Valley.
Set around the market place, the town was also important as a staging post and for Drovers taking their livestock to market over the boarder in England. Its long history started with the Iron Age hill fort at Caer Drewyn, and included associations with the colourful lives of medieval Welsh Princes such as Owain Glyndwr who lead a revolt against the English in 1400.
Just to the west is the beautiful and unusual Rug (or Rhug) Chapel, a small 17th century church with fabulously carved and brightly painted ornate decoration completely covering the interior.
