Ottery St Mary, has otters everywhere !
The local river, River Otter, is well known for being an otter outpost, although you have to be very lucky to see them as they only appear early morning and late evening. The river floods rather often, best seen at the weir with the 18th century mill.
The town has a fine church modelled on Exeter Cathedral, perhaps. The poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born here in the Vicarage, and the town was the setting for Thackeray's novel Pendennis.
