Sherborne
|
|
| Sherborne, medieval
buildings mix with newer ones in this delightful town.
With its winding streets,
the town was a cathedral city from 705AD to 1075. The church
became a monastery until the Dissolution in the 16th century.
Many of these buildings remain, some used by the Sherborne
School, the Abbey Gatehouse is a museum.
The Abbey church still
remains.
Sherborne has two
castles, the older ruined one outside the town.
