Grays

|
|
Grays,
next to the Thames near the Dartford crossing, and close to
London and the M25.
Most people
come near here to shop at Lakeside, a very large shopping
centre with a retail park. As well as the shops it also has
cinema's and other entertainment's.
Nearby
Tilbury and Purfleet are based on sea transport using the
River Thames.
It was
at West Tilbury that Queen Elizabeth 1st made her famous speech
to her troops as the Spanish Armada sailed up the English
Channel in 1588 . "I know I have the body but of a weak
and feeble woman: but I have the heart and stomach of a king,
and a king of England too."
The Queen
Elizabeth II Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridge in Europe,
across the Thames is nearby.
Quite
a lot to see and do in this area bordering the River Thames,
including Purfleet, featured in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula.
