SussexBattle

Battle, it all happened at this place in 1066, William the Conqueror landed and fought King Harold, but Harold lost and got it in the eye with an arrow for his pains.

The East Sussex town is busy as it is on a main road, but has some interesting little shops and retains a least some of its past, including a Norman church with 13th century paintings, St Mary's, and a nearby 1669 Deanery.
