The beautiful seaside village of Crail is one of a line of charming settlements along the coastline known as the East Neuk of Fife, but arguably one of the most lovely.
With quaint cottages tumbling down the hillside in winding streets to the pretty harbour and beaches, Crail is picture-postcard perfect, and this can make it quite crowded in the summer season. However it is still a working fishing harbour, with lobster and crab caught in these waters and brought in by local fishermen in small boats.
The Crail Museum and Heritage Centre tells the story of the area, housed in buildings next to the distinctive 16th century Tolbooth with its interesting clocktower. Other local attractions include the golf courses of the Crail Golfing Society, a historic club founded in 1786 and the 7th oldest in the world.
