Batsford Arboretum and wild garden
covers 50 acres and has more than 1,500 trees.
The arboretum is superb in the
spring when the ground is carpeted with a vast array of bulbs.
These are followed by beautiful magnolias and cherries.
In the autumn the foliage colour
is spectacular. The red and gold maples and sorbus are
particularly outstanding.
Another feature is the interesting
collection of bronze statues and unusual shrubs brought back
from Japan and other exotic eastern locations by Lord Redesdale.
Batsford also has a well-stocked
nursery.
