Headland Garden is a splendid cliff garden is bounded by the sea on three sides.
The 1.5 acre site is 100 feet above sea level and, although the views are spectacular, the owners have to contend with gales and salt spray, which can blow in from any of the three sides.
To overcome these difficulties the owners have used narrow paths, hedges and archways to create hidden areas. Here sub-tropical plants thrive in the shelter provided. The owners are particularly fond of Australian and New Zealand species.
The garden, which has some rare plants, is always full of interest.
A flight of 100 steps leads down to a cove and from here visitors may swim in the sea.
