This marvellous garden has been created by Hugh Johnson writer of the 'Tradescant' column in the RHS magazine, and his family.

Twelve acres of alkaline clay have been transformed into an arboretum containing many rare specimens, with collections of oaks, birches, beeches, prunus, robinias, sorbus and pines, all carefully planted to provide walks and superb views.

Saling Hall also has a charming walled garden dating from 1698, with pyramids of box, fruit trees and informal borders.

Other features include a Japanese garden, a vegetable garden and water gardens.
