Long Hall Gardens have an atmosphere of peaceful antiquity.
The charming 4 acre garden is really a series of gardens within a garden.
A secret garden hedged with yew is set around a lily pond with beds of old roses in delicate colours.
In strong contrast is a red border backed by coppery and purple foliage.
Long Hall Gardens are set next to the village church and along the churchyard wall is an 'ecclesiastical' border.
Here plants with ecclesiastical purple blooms mix with Jacob's ladder, monkshood, the climbing rose 'Rambling Rector' and madonna lilies. The beautiful south terrace is bordered by great Irish yews.
Beside the gardens is the Long Hall Nursery which specialises in unusual chalk-tolerant plants.
