near the bathing pools at La Vallette. There are a wide
range of colourful tropical fish and local species as well

Guersey
Tapestry Dorey Centre, St James |
| |
Created to mark the Millenneum,
the Bailiwick of Guersey Tapestry illustrates 1,000 years
of local history. Each one of the ten embroidered panels
(4ft x 3ft) is named after one of Guernsey's parishes. The
project was a group effort by islanders and took four years
to complete. The tapestry is brought to life by an audio
guide.

Victor
Hugo House 38 Hauteville, St Peter Port |
| |
The famous
French Romantic writer Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885) arrived in
Guernsey with his wife in 1855 and lived in exile on the island
until 1870. Hugo rented 20 Hauteville but then purchased
the property for his mistress Juliette Drouet and then acquired
38 Hauteville. During his 15 years on the island he wrote
some of his most famous works . In 1927 Hugo's descendants
bequeathed 38 Hauteville to the City of Paris. Hauteville
House has been preserved exactly as it was. Open for guided
tours in the summer, the property gives an insight into the
life of the famous writer.

Model
World Rail Exhibition and Shop Camp du Roi,

is the only specialist model railway shop in the Channel Islands.
It has layouts in 4 gauges plus a Thomas the Tank Engine play
layout and a working funfair. There are also many rare
showcase models from all over the world.

This leisure centre, built in
1976, has views of the east coast of the island. The centre
offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities including a
cinema, theatre, large heated indoor swimming pool, water flumes
and many sports such as outdoor tennis, badminton, squash, volley
ball and bowls.

Sausmarez
Manor St Martins |
| |
Sausmarez Manor is the only privately
owned stately home on the island. For centuries the
de Sausmarez family have been Fief's (Lords) of the Manor
and this has been their home since around 1220. The
present Seigneur, Peter de Sausmarez, still lives here with
his family. The elegant facade is regarded as the finest
example of Queen Anne Colonial architecture in Britain.
The manor reflects the changes to Guernsey over the centuries.
Featues guided tours of the house, 'ArtPark' (collection of
contemporary sculpture), Dolls House Collection and a 9 hole
pitch and putt course. The grounds contain two lakes
and paths through tree ferns, palm trees, groves of bamboo,
banana trees, hydrangeas, cyclamen, fushias and over 300 types
of camelias.

Strawberry
Farm Les Issues Vinery, St Saviour |

See strawberries being cultivated
under glass, hanging from wires and growing in peat. The fruit
can be sampled in the tearoom with a Guernsey Cream tea. Craft
centre including a pottery, patisserie and fudge shop. Shopping
