The small village of Llanystumdwy is set in the beautiful Llyn Peninsula not far from the coast and the town of Criccieth. It has quaint stone cottages with the rushing river Afon Dwyfor passing through.
It is best known as the family home of the famous British Prime Minister David Lloyd George (1863-1945), a humble cottage where he grew up and formed political views which led him to be the first Welsh Prime Minister. The museum houses artefacts and memorabilia from throughout his life.
Also in the village is Ty Newydd, the National Writers' Centre for Wales, offering courses for budding and experienced novelists, poets, playwrights and schoolchildren.
