Bushey,
two miles from the centre of Watford. Running to
the north of the town is the M1, this
gives residents easy access to London in the south and Hertfordshire
in the north.
The parish church of St James
and the surrounding buildings provide an insight into how
Bushey would have looked when it was still a village.
The Bushey Museum in Rudolph
Road (just off the High Street) illustrates the story of the
town with particular emphasis on Bushey's unique artistic
history.
The Museum also has a nationally
important collection of works, artefacts and ephemera relating
to Sir Hubert von Herkomer RA and his famous School of Art
in Bushey which, a century ago, was attracting students from
all over the world.
Since then Bushey's artistic
reputation has drawn many artists and works on display include
pieces by Lucy Kemp-Welsh, right up to modern-day artists.
Two miles east of Bushey lies
the Aldenham Country Park which provides attractive walks
and water sports.
