Audley End House1 mile south of Saffron Walden, on B1383 Built in 1614, then one of the largest house's in England, but during the 18th century parts of the house was demolished reducing it to the size today. Ingatestone HallSouth of Ingatestone village in Hall Lane, off the A12 between Brentwood and Chelmsford Ingatestone Hall is a 16th century mansion, set in formal gardens. The house belongs to the Petre family. When the 18th Lord inherited Ingatestone in 1989 he renovated the house and opened it to the public.Inside the Hall is a fine collection of portraits.
