6 miles north-west of Barnsley, on A635 Barnsley - Manchester road An 18th century house surrounded by a park.A plain stone house was altered in 1764 when wings were added and the interior modernised. In 1951 the family removed the contents and sold Cannon Hall to the Barnsley local authority who refurnished the main rooms with 18th century items and pictures, and the other rooms were converted into a museum with collections of paintings, Art Nouveau objects, glass and ceramics and the Museum of the 13th/18th Hussars.
