Brodsworth Hall is an extraordinary time capsule.

The Victorian country house, now owned by English Heritage, has survived virtually unaltered since the 19th century with most of its original furnishings and decorations intact.

The house, designed and built in the 1860s, has been carefully conserved by English Heritage.

The patina of age has been preserved throughout the house and as a result the interior is both fascinating and evocative.

The faded splendour of the principal rooms reveals Brodsworth Hall's opulent past. The cluttered servants' wing has a huge kitchen recalling the age of Mrs Beeton and a vanished way of life.

There are also exhibitions providing details about the family, the servants and the gardens.

Brodworth Hall is surrounded by carefully restored Victorian gardens.

These charming gardens are full of interest and provide colour throughout the seasons.
