Lovely Yarmouth is a picturesque little town on the north west coast of the Isle of Wight, easily reached from Lymington on the mainland.
With attractive old buildings and quaint pastel painted cottages, Yarmouth is a great place to visit. There are excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants, and interesting shops to potter in. The town also has some beautiful views across the water from the historic wooden pier, Yarmouth castle, and the quayside with its many small sailing boats.
Yarmouth is also the closest town to some of the islands best natural attractions - Alum Bay with its amazing many-coloured sands, and the dramatic rugged formation of the Needles, an icon of the island. There are also fascinating historic defensive forts, or batteries, to explore.
More modern history was made at East Afton Farm, just to the south, site of the first Isle of Wight festival in 1970 and the last major performance by Jimi Hendrix.
