Set on the west coast, this area
of sand dunes, reedbed enclosed ponds and scrubland, known
as Les Mielles, is an ideal spot for amateur naturalists.
The small granite Kempt Tower, is a Martello Tower, built
in 1834 to protect Jersey from Napoleon's forces. The
tower houses a visitor centre with displays on the history
of the bay, countryside management, wildlife conservation
and other environmental subjects.

Samarès

Samarès Manor is Jersey's own
stately home, surrounded by 14 acres of beautiful tended grounds. The
ambitious gardens, created in the late-1920s by Sir
James Knott, boast hundreds of varieties of plants from all
over the world. Features include a Japanese garden and
water and rock gardens. The walled herb garden, with
hundreds of fragrant, cosmetic, medicinal and culinary plants,
is one of the largest in Europe. Twice daily (except
Saturday) there is a falconery display. Farmyard with
farm animals and crafts, craft demonstrations and wood turning.
Parts of the ancient manor house date back to Norman times
and there are guided tours every day (except Sunday) for a
small extra charge.

'Badgers Holt' is a delightful
sensory garden with a waterfall, various ponds and lots of
birds. With more that 3,000 bushes, plants and flowers,
there is colour and perfume throughout the summer.

Howard
Davis Park St Clement's Road, St Helier |

On the edge of St Helier, this
park was once part of a private family residence. In 1937
the land was purchased by T B Davis who had it re-landscaped
and presented it to the island of Jersey in 1939. The
park has colourful trees and plants throughout the year.
Highlights include a graceful lawn, with a backdrop of trees,
and attractive walled-in rose gardens. There is also a
bandstand and a World War II memorial cemetery. |

Established by the late Eric Young
in 1958, this unique centre is dedicated to the breeding, development
and exhibition this beautiful flower. The display house
features planted landscapes that show orchids at their best.

Coronation

This delightful park was gifted
to the people of Jersey by Lady Trent, widow of Jessie Boot,
Baron Trent, the founder of Boot's the Chemist. Lady
Trent's principal residence was at Villa Millbrook in St Lawrence.
Also known as Millbrook Park, it has a wide variety of plants,
a Victorian shelter and a children's play area and paddling
pool. Beside the park stands St
Matthew's (Glass) Church. |

Les
Jardins de la Mer St Helier |

These maritime gardens are part
of the newly created Waterfront area. From the gardens
there are views across St Aubin's Bay to Elizabeth Castle.
The gardens are divided into different areas at various levels,
including lawns, a maritime woodland, a rockery and shingle
beds. There is a water maze which is lit up at night. The
centrepiece is a water feature of swimmers and dolphins designed
by the sculptor, Philip Jackson. |

This secluded valley garden, accessed
by a small country lane, contains over 1,500 mainly herbaceous
perennials from all over the world. Though small ( just
over quarter of an acre), the garden contains many rare and
unusual plants. Highlights include an attractive granite
cottage, built into the side of the valley, and a bog garden
viewed from an elevated walkway
