Loughborough
|
|
| Loughborough,
a university town, the university is renown for its sports faculty.
Located on an old site, the town prospered on wool, hosiery,
knitwear and lace and the 1778 canal opening helped its 19th
century industrial expansion, it was the one of the first
towns to have proper sewage and drinking water supplies.
There is a good shopping centre with Carillon Court, a covered
shopping mall, and Churchgate, now pedestrianised, is one
of the old streets.
