Rutland Water Reservoir, drowned a village when built, you drive around part of it, parking areas and nature trails to the north, yacht club on the south side at Edith Weston, off A6003 or A606

Small villages all around the area, such as Burrough on the Hill, west off A606 or B6047, which has a good view over the Vale, also Exton, east off the A606,  for thatched houses and for the gardens of Geoff Hamilton , BBC's Gardeners' World, at Barnsdale Plants and Gardens, Tel: 01572 813200 Admission Charge  Empingham, north of the reservoir on the A606, has a church with a tower and spire, with medieval glass fragments.
