St James Garlickhythe was one
of the 51 churches built in London by Sir Christopher Wren
after the Great Fire of 1666.
The church roof is the highest
in the city, after St
Paul's Cathedral, with an elegant spire dating
from 1717.
Known as 'Wren's Lantern', the
light-filled interior of St James Garlickhythe has changed
little since the 17th century. A highlight of the church
is its unusual sword rests and hat stands.
