The Alfred Dunhill Collection
illustrates the history of the Dunhill brand, which started
as suppliers of motor
accessories such as leather coats, windshield pipes and 'Bobby
Finders' (binoculars).
The small museum is housed in
a luxurious downstairs room, complete with leather sofas and
coffee tables, where visitors can sit and enjoy a Dunhill
cigar.
Among the items on display are
Dunhill pipes, lighters, watches, fragrances, vanity cases
and pens, and include historic lighters used at royal occasions.
One highlight is a lighter bought
by Pablo Picasso in the 1930's and given to his mistress Dora
Maar. Before he gave the lighter the artist engraved
her portrait on the tiny lid. Former owners of other
lighters include Harpo Marx, Noel Coward, Marshal Tito and
Elvis Presley.
