The Fashion and Textile Museum is housed in a spectacular pink and orange building in Bermondsey, designed by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.

This museum is the brainchild of Zandra Rhodes, a designer with a passion for pink, whose clothes have been a feature of the fashion scene since the 1970s.

The museum exhibits and records the work of fashion and textile designers, with emphasis on British design from the 1950s to the present day.

Changing exhibitions highlight the work of such style-setting names as Mary Quant, creator of the mini-skirt, Jean Muir, Vivienne Westword, John Galliano of Dior and Alexander McQueen of Givenchy.

A permanent collection is displayed upstairs, and textile designers are also represented at the museum.

The museum also has "The Academy", an educational centre for fashion students, linking students with professionals in the fashion world.

There is also a cafe and shop.
