Vestry House Museum
Vestry Road, Walthamstow, London E17

This small but charming museum is housed in an 18th century workhouse that was later used as a Police Station.

The building contains many original features including a Victorian police cell which is part of the Police Display.

Other rooms display local domestic history 100 years ago, together with a photographic history of Walthamstow, and a section on Frederick Bremer, the designer of Britain's first petrol engined motor car.  Bremer's 1894 vehicle is on display in the museum.

Other displays include changing lifestyles from the Stone Age onwards and sections on costume, toys and games and a Victorian Parlour.
