Highgate Wood offers shady walks through 70 acres of its ancient woodland. 

Popular with children as the wood has nature trails, a playground, a nature hut and loads of space to run around in.  

At the centre of the wood is the vegetarian Oshobasho Café, closed Mondays, which serves refreshments in its pretty garden. 

On the other side of Muswell Hill Road is Queen's Wood, another, quieter, area of ancient woodland.
