Created in 1974, the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester is Britain's second largerst city.
Within its boundaries are two cities, Manchester and Salford, six towns, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Stockport, Rochdale and Wigan, and the two newly created boroughs of Tameside and Trafford. 

About 2.6 million people live within the actual boundries of Manchester and another 7 million live in the wider region.

With recent investment in the area the Manchester region offers a range of tourist and visitor attractions from heritage sites to modern art galleries.
